Damiano has 20+ years of experience in automotive and motorsport, 16 of which in managerial roles.

 

After the master’s degree in mechanical engineering, he worked for FIAT Auto in Italy, swiftly taking the responsibility for the functional integration of vehicle dynamics control systems, and later working for the FIAT/GM small cars platform.

 

In 2003 he moved to SiemensVDO in Germany, to develop brake-by-wire systems, becoming author of several patents on this technology. He also represented the entire SiemensVDO chassis division in the AUTOSAR partnership.

 

In 2006 he joined the Sauber F1 Team in Switzerland, initially as Test and Race Team Systems Engineering, soon promoted to Head of Systems Engineering, developing several innovative systems and overseeing the entire car electronics and software.

He was the Sauber Project Manager for the Ferrari powertrain integration, later joining the Top Management as Technical Coordinator and Operations Director.

 

The final spell in F1 was at McLaren Racing in UK, as Head of Control Systems, with overall responsibility for the car electronics and software, leading a team of more than 20 engineers and technicians. As previously done for the Sauber F1 Team, he again represented McLaren Racing in relevant FIA working groups.

 

In 2020 he joined the management of Racing Unleashed, in particular overseeing the R&D and production facility in Maranello, Italy; among others, he developed new models of racing sims, also coordinating their production, delivery, installation, and maintenance.

In 2022 he founded innovaMOtion GmbH, having as clients motorsport organizations, simulator developers, automotive suppliers and universities.
